Bogs

I now have a new appreciation for the term “bogged down.” To walk in the bogs is to experience slow or minimal progress because it is so hard to move forward. Shortly after reaching the 9 Standards, I got lost in the bogs. I shouldn’t have, but I somehow got off the path and found myself sinking in mud and making so little progress that I experienced one of two moments when I felt sufficiently overwhelmed and in need of hope. “S” had advised me to go around, but it was too late for that. I thought of her as I carefully used my poles to test each plot before me for its potential to swallow my shoe. I did not give up thanks to courage thoughts and a resolve to not allow Rock Brain to win, despite my error. We will all make mistakes, no matter how prepared we are. Be patient with yourselves and know that even in the bogs of life, an inch forward is progressing towards where you want to go.
