Today I reached the halfway point on this journey. It seems impossible and yet very real. Overall, the weather has been so much more challenging to me than the physical tests. Mentally, I feel great and my work kids prepared me well to defeat Rock Brain….i have been lost (way too many times), rained on (very frequently), in bogs that were shoe-sucking, and had falls/ daily wear and tear that has left me bruised and blistered. I think the only scenario I haven’t encountered was running out of daylight. I really hope that isn’t in the next posts because it isn’t getting dark until around 10! Each one of these kids and his/her fight has spurred me on. Today’s challenge was the bone chilling cold that I still feel in my body after being off the trail for 5 hours now and having taken a bath. But, I’ve made it this far and I can take another bath. I truly am thankful for hot water and that this accommodation has a bath (thankful to John who emailed every place that was on the list and asking them to switch me to rooms with baths if at all possible AND he arranged for Amazon UK to deliver epsom salts to my room a few days ago.) And, I am so thankful to have this opportunity not only for myself but for MHA. I can handle a bit of discomfort for all the folks that MHA supports . If you are able and haven’t donated, I ask you to get a little uncomfortable for those who are struggling. The cost of one cup of hot coffee, or iced if you are actually experiencing summer, can make a difference. $5 is the minimum online donation which is about what that coffee costs. You don’t have to add a supplemental percentage to Zeffy(just hit other amount and put in 0.) Thanks again! Well off to get warm!
You are amazing Ms. Heidi!!!! We are so proud of you and grateful for you. Keep going. Sending hugs from the Brown boys.
