So thankful

It is hard to put into words how perfect today was, from the moment I woke up. Breakfast was incredible and I enjoyed hot, strong coffee (3 cups but they were small.) The weather started off rainy and overcast but it wasn’t cold and the winds were much milder. What I did not know was that the trials of yesterday prepared me so much for today. Having crossed fast moving, deep, and wide streams yesterday, I approached today’s normally challenging crossings with confidence and not one wet foot. Having soaked the through multiple sets of clothing, rain gear and socks, the gentle rain seemed like misty sunshine. Having to walk with others navigating poorly marked trails. allowed me the
patience to trust my own abilities alone today. It all made me think of many of the children (and adults) with whom I work. I know they can bounce back from their hard experiences to become strong and confident. I know that when they are ready they will be able to climb up mountains and see incredible things on their own. I am so thankful for them, I am so thankful that my family is trusting me to travel on my own and I am so thankful for this incredibly beautiful world. Oh, and seeing the sun and feeling it’s warmth about 2/3’s into today journey….pure bliss.
